ComplyJet Agent - ScreenLock ( Windows & MacOS )

Learn how to configure screen lock settings so the ComplyJet Agent can evaluate device compliance correctly.

To pass the “Screenlock” device check in ComplyJet, your device must automatically lock after a defined period of inactivity and require a password immediately when the screen wakes.

This ensures unattended devices cannot be accessed by unauthorized users.

These instructions apply only when using the ComplyJet Agent directly on the device.

If you are using an external MDM (Hexnode, Intune, Jamf, etc.), refer to the respective MDM setup guide instead.

ComplyJet evaluates the device configuration detected by the Agent.

Requirement Overview

To pass the check:

  • Device must auto-lock within 30 minutes of inactivity

  • Password must be required immediately

  • Both battery and plugged-in modes must comply (where applicable)

macOS Configuration

You can meet the requirement using either Screen Saver settings or Display sleep settings.

Option 1: Screen Saver Method (Recommended)

  1. Open System Settings

  2. Navigate to Lock Screen

  3. Set:

    • Start Screen Saver when inactive → 30 minutes or less

    • Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off → Immediately

This ensures:

  • Screen activates within 30 minutes

  • Password is required instantly

Option 2: Display Sleep Method

  1. Open System Settings

  2. Go to Lock Screen

  3. Set:

    • Turn display off on battery when inactive → 30 minutes or less

    • Turn display off on power adapter when inactive → 30 minutes or less

    • Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off → Immediately

Windows Configuration

You can meet the requirement using either Screen Saver settings or Sleep settings.

Option 1: Screen Saver Settings (Recommended)

  1. Open Start

  2. Search for Screen saver settings

  3. Select any screen saver (not “None”)

  4. Set Wait → 30 minutes or less

  5. Enable On resume, display logon screen

Depending on Windows version, this may appear as:

  • Require sign-in when PC wakes

  • Require password on wakeup

Option 2: Sleep Settings

  1. Open Settings

  2. Go to System → Power & sleep

  3. Set:

    • When plugged in, put my device to sleep after → 30 minutes or less

    • When on battery power, put my device to sleep after →30 minutes or less

Then:

  1. Navigate to Accounts → Sign-in options

  2. Set:

    • Require sign-in → When PC wakes from sleep

How ComplyJet Evaluates This

The ComplyJet Agent checks:

  • Screensaver idle time

  • Display sleep timers (AC/DC)

  • Lock delay (must be immediate)

If all required values meet the criteria, the device will show compliant. If any condition fails it will show up as non-compliant.

Common Reasons for Failure

  • Screensaver set to more than 30 minutes

  • Lock delay set to anything other than “Immediately”

  • Only battery or only plugged-in setting configured

  • Device not synced after changing settings

Next Steps

After updating your settings:

  1. Click Sync now inside the ComplyJet Agent

  2. If needed, reboot your device

  3. Confirm the device check shows Compliant

Once configured correctly, the test will automatically pass.
